Can’t stop thinking about your book idea?

Through writer-centered book coaching, I help ambitious and creative BIPOC writers like you get the guidance you need to finally write it.

Let's Get Writing
Book Coach Sabrina squats next to a stack of books, with her elbow on top of the stack, and her face leaning on her hand.

Don’t you think it’s time?

You have the idea and the drive—now you just need someone to show you the way.

Sure, you could write a book on your own. You’re capable and creative, and you’ve rarely (if ever) met a problem you can’t solve. You’re the type of person who keeps working at something until you get it right, so you know getting around to writing your book is only a matter of time.

But that’s just it. With everything else going on in your life—your career or business, your family, your slight existential dread at the state of the world—who has time to figure out how to write a whole ass book on their own?

You’ve done the googling. You’ve talked to your friend who wrote a book or got an agent or finished their proposal. Maybe you’ve even asked to use theirs as a guide. And still something just isn’t clicking for you.

But your book idea is good—that much you know—so now what? How do you make it real so someone other than you cares?

The answer is more obvious than you think…

Book Coach Sabrina sits on the floor with her chin in her hand and gives the camera an understanding look.

You need clear, specific steps to follow and a sprinkle—or shower—of accountability.

Well, book coaching (with me, duh) has got you covered!

Planning and writing your book doesn’t have to feel daunting or overly complicated. It doesn’t have to take a whole year just to get the outline and structure, and another three to actually write the book. But it’s not all gonna happen in 90 days, either (and anyone who says it definitely will can fight me).

You already have what it takes, but as your book coach, I can help you:

  • gain traction on your book plan, book proposal, and manuscript;

  • craft your query letter, synopsis, and pitch plan;

  • find your writing rhythm (aka create a writing practice that works for you);

  • handle any mindset stuff that comes up in the process;

  • stay on track until “The End” (even if your book isn’t the kind of book that actually ends in “The End”);

  • add “Author” to your bio; and

  • get there faster than if you did it alone.

Let's Do This!
Book coaching client Dionna sits on a park bench with her hands clasped in front of her and smiles at the camera.

“Because of my coaching experience with Sabrina, I was able to commit to a writing routine, see my book idea come to life in the form of a full book proposal, and boost my confidence to actually pursue publishing.”

My coaching experience with Sabrina has been nothing short of amazing! First and foremost, I felt seen. I didn’t have to filter my lived experiences as a Black woman.

Sabrina’s coaching style offers both empowerment and accountability. She asks all the right questions to get you to think deeper and express more in your writing. She meets you where you are; as a novice writer, yet ‘expert’ in my field she offered feedback that didn’t make me run and hide of embarrassment but gave me the drive to push myself outside of my comfort zone.

You deserve a book coach who will (lovingly) harass you over text to make sure you stay on top of your shit.

I’ll also be there to talk you off the ledge when you’re starting to wonder if writing your book is actually doable. We can do an impromptu co-writing session together when you’re feeling blocked. I’ll always give you honest feedback to help you produce your best work. And I’ll celebrate you when you hit writing milestones—both big and small.

It’s about more than the book…

Book Coaching is about helping you be the person you need to be to write the book you can’t stop thinking about!

Writing a book takes time, and that could look like…

  • Months 1-2

    Complete and refine your Book Foundations (workbook) to create a super solid plan for your book—from your point to your outline.

  • Months 2-6

    Develop your book proposal (nonfiction) or the first draft of your manuscript (fiction and memoir).

  • Month 7+

    Craft your query letter, synopsis, and pitch plan—then get pitching! OR work on revisions OR just keep writing!

The actual timeline might be (read: will probably be) different for you, because writing a book is NOT a one-size-fits-all thing. But what I know for sure is that with the right energy, mindset, and guidance, you can gain momentum on your book in just a few months.

I Want Momentum!
Book coaching client Jess sits at the end of a couch with her arms on the couch arms and smiles at the camera.

“During moments of uncertainty in this therapeutic writing process, Sabrina unfailingly rekindles my sense of purpose.”

Collaborating with Sabrina has been a beautiful journey of self-discovery throughout my writing process. Sabrina's expertise in her field is evident, as she consistently encourages me to delve deeper, embrace my narrative, and articulate it on paper in a manner I hadn't previously explored.

I wholeheartedly endorse Sabrina as a book coach for fellow writers (experienced or not).

“Okay, but what are we actually doing, like, what’s the process?”

I’m so glad you asked, because I love any excuse to talk about my Clear, Confident Writer Framework!

My framework is designed to help you get SUPER clear (shocking, I know) on why you’re writing this book, who it’s for, and how you’re going to make it real.

And the confidence? Well that comes from YOU—putting in the work, showing up for yourself, and executing the plan.

Book Coach Sabrina sits on the couch, leaning over the edge with her elbow on the side table and gives a soft smile to the camera.

THE CLEAR CONFIDENT WRITER FRAMEWORK

  • We’ll nail your book’s foundation—from the broader point you’re making (and how to talk about it), to the full picture of your ideal reader, including what they need and how your book will help them get it.

    You’ll also learn about your publishing options and decide how you want to bring your book idea to life!

  • It’s all about the content baby! What are you saying? How is it organized? How is it aiding your ideal reader’s transformation?

    And after answering all that, you’ll craft a detailed outline of everything your book needs (and nothing it doesn’t), and a super simple marketing plan. Cuz a book needs readers, right?

  • All of the hard work from Clarify + Plan leaves you in the best position to get writing!

    You’ll create your book proposal and/or start drafting your manuscript—it all depends on your publishing goals.

    Either way, I’ll be right alongside you to keep you on track and motivated until you finish. Your future readers are waiting!

Nonfiction book coaching client Franck sits on a stool, dressed in all black, and smiles at the camera.

“Sabrina made the process [of writing my book] not only manageable but genuinely enjoyable. From day one, she brought structure, focus, and an uncanny ability to cut through the noise in my head (trust me, there was a lot of noise).”

Writing a book is no small feat, it is like trying to cook a five-course meal without a recipe while people peek over your shoulder and comment on your knife skills. Sabrina did not just guide me through the steps; she made me feel like I could actually do this and do it well, she never doubted a minute. She has this incredible knack for seeing the big picture (even though not from the hospitality industry) while also helping refine the smallest details.

Anytime I overthought something (which was weekly), she knew exactly how to steer me back on track, usually with a mix of patience and a well-timed nudge or coming along for the ride with my crazy idea. She just knew how to navigate the path forward.

This book proposal and manuscript would not exist without her guidance, insight, and endless encouragement. She is not just a coach; she is a champion for anyone crazy enough to take on this process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While I primarily work with Brown, Black, and writers of color, I am totally open to working with allies too—if our values are aligned.

    I'm actively anti-racist, I know that white privilege exists, I understand that racism is systemic, I know that Black Lives Matter, I will always say "publishing is white as fuck" with my whole chest, I know that love is love and gender is a spectrum, and I believe no one is "illegal" on stolen land. If you agree, we’re good to go!

  • It’s best to reach out as soon as you’re ready—maybe even a bit before you’re ready, because “ready” is a choice more than a feeling (most of the time). I work with anywhere from 4-6 On-Demand and 3-4 Accelerator clients at a time. Slots tend to open up 1-2 times a quarter.

    If my client roster is full, the buttons above will say “Join the Coaching Waitlist” instead of “Inquire.”

  • We’ll continue to coach for as long as you want support! Your monthly rate stays the same, and we’ll keep moving toward whatever your goals are until we hit every single one. You’re welcome to end coaching whenever you’d like (as long as you give me a 2-week notice).

  • All coaching packages are billed monthly—including your initial 2- or 3-month commitment.

    You’re welcome to pay for multiple months in advance, but there is no pay-in-full discount, and a portion of what you pay will be nonrefundable if you cancel before your term is up.

  • I work with preeettttyy much anything, except for children’s books (middle grade and younger) and poetry. I love to coach personal development/self-help, spirituality, business/leadership, cultural analysis, transformational memoir, literary fiction, contemporary fiction, horror, magical realism, and urban fantasy. I also dabble in romance.

  • Yes to pitching—I’ll help you create your pitch materials, direct your agent research, craft a pitch plan, and manage the emotions that inevitably come up when you start getting responses.

    I don’t help you publish, but I will refer you to the amazing Monique Mensah, Personal Self-Publishing Assistant. She helps authors create books that will make your readers wonder if you were traditionally published.

    We can create a starter marketing plan together (and a more thorough one if we’re developing your book proposal together), and I’ll share your posts when you make them, but a full-fledged marketing strategy to sell your books is a bit outside my wheelhouse. Once I have a trusted referral for that, I’ll share it!

  • Nope! We can do regular old phone calls for every session if you want, or an audio-only web conference call. (I actually don’t use Zoom; I use Whereby, a browser-based alternative.)
